Kota Kinabalu, Saturday, 12th October, 2019: AMC College held its third convocation ceremony today alongside City Skill Training Centre which took place at Likas Square Commercial Centre. A total of 32 students from AMC College graduated alongside a further 49 students from City Skill Training Centre who received their Malaysian Skills Certificates Level 2 (SKM 2) certification.

Minister of Education and Innovation Datuk Yusof Yacob emphasised the need of embracing Industry 4.0 upon the graduates to propel and sustain future competitiveness to meet the challenges of the digital age.

He also pushed for greater and wider English proficiency in Sabah. “English is the most commonly preferred language in this digital era,” he asserted. “There is an urgent need to promote greater and wider English proficiency in Sabah in order to achieve the rewarding benefits of Industry 4.0.”

In moving towards IR 4.0, he further pointed out the high demand in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) and also went on to describe how rapid development of infrastructure within Sabah and Borneo was creating ample opportunity for skilled graduates. He congratulated City Skill Training Centre for launching the Certificate in Road Maintenance through the Skills Development Fund Corporation Malaysia, the first of its kind.

His speech was delivered by the Ministry’s deputy permanent secretary Moira David.

AMC College’s valedictorian, Ruth Amber Malating, in delivering her valedictory speech, said that AMC College had prepared her to better face the future. “At AMC we grew, we matured, and now we are ready to face the world,” she exclaimed. Currently, Ruth is progressing from her diploma studies to undertake her second year of a BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree at AMC College in collaboration with the prestigious Leeds Beckett University, UK.
